Why Halloween is Cool

Because of scary stories, with chilling lines like this eerie offering from Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca:

“That corner in the drive, too, where the trees encroach upon the gravel, is not a place in which to pause, not after the sun has set. When the leaves rustle, they sound very much like the stealthy movement of a woman in evening dress, and when they shiver suddenly, and fall, and scatter away along the ground, they might be the patter, patter, of a woman’s hurrying footstep, and the mark in the gravel the imprint of a high-heeled satin shoe.”

Because you’re allowed to eat grusome-sounding food without seeming like a psycho

Because of Hocus Pocus (the greatest Halloween movie of all time), which makes me desperate to be Sarah Jessica Parker

Because of Halloween episodes of all your favourite TV shows

Because you can dress up all kinds of awesome (or dress someone else up)

Because you can finally bust out those Thriller dance moves you’ve practiced all year and pretend it was just a cool and funny thing you learnt for Halloween
